SMS
I agree to receive mood logging reminder text messages from MoodMirror (moodmirror.org) at this number. Msg frequency varies (typically 1 msg/day). Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help. See our SMS Consent Policy for details.

Consent is not required to use MoodMirror. Your phone number will not be shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

SMS is not pre-selected. The user must select SMS as a channel before the consent checkbox appears. Both the SMS channel and the consent checkbox must be actively chosen by the user.

Step 3Confirmation Message

MoodMirror: You've signed up for mood logging reminders. Reply HELP for help, STOP to cancel. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply.

After opting in, users receive an immediate confirmation message with opt-out instructions.

How We Collect SMS Consent

MoodMirror sends SMS messages only to users who explicitly opt in. Consent to receive SMS messages is not required as a condition of using MoodMirror. You may use the service without providing a phone number or enabling SMS reminders. Consent is collected in the following ways:

Self-reminders

When a user adds their phone number to their MoodMirror account and creates an SMS reminder, they are explicitly opting in to receive reminder messages. The user must:

  1. Provide their phone number in account settings.
  2. Create an SMS reminder and choose a delivery time.
  3. Confirm they want to receive SMS reminders.

Mirror reminders

When a subject invites a Mirror and enables SMS reminders for that Mirror, the Mirror must accept the invitation and provide their phone number. The Mirror explicitly opts in by:

  1. Accepting the invitation to be a Mirror.
  2. Providing their phone number in their account settings.
  3. Enabling SMS reminders for the relationship.

Reveal notifications

When you submit your daily reflection, your Mirror (or the Subject you reflect for) is notified that today's reveal is ready. To receive these notifications via SMS, a user must:

  1. Verify their phone number in account settings.
  2. Enable "Send reveal notifications via SMS" on the Reminders page.

This is a separate opt-in from the daily reminder SMS. A user can have one without the other.

Opt-In Confirmation

When you first enable SMS reminders, you will receive a confirmation message such as:

"MoodMirror: You've signed up for mood logging reminders. Reply HELP for help, STOP to cancel. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply."

Types of Messages

MoodMirror sends the following types of SMS messages:

  • Opt-in confirmation: A one-time message confirming your SMS enrollment (see above).
  • Mood logging reminders:A daily reminder to log your mood entry. Example: "MoodMirror: Log your mood for today. https://moodmirror.org/today Reply HELP for help, STOP to cancel."
  • Mirror reminders:A daily reminder to submit an observation about a subject. Example: "MoodMirror: Submit today's observation for Brian. https://moodmirror.org/today Reply HELP for help, STOP to cancel."
  • Reveal notifications:A message when your partner submits their reflection. Example: "MoodMirror: Brian reflected on their day — your reveal is ready. https://moodmirror.org/today Reply HELP for help, STOP to cancel."

Message Frequency

Message frequency depends on user configuration. Typically, users receive 1–4 messages per day depending on configuration: a self reminder, a Mirror reminder, and reveal notifications when partners submit. Users control the exact schedule and can configure reminders for specific times of day.

HELP Keyword

You can text HELP to any MoodMirror number at any time. You will receive a response such as:

"MoodMirror: For support, visit https://moodmirror.org or email hello@moodmirror.org. Reply STOP to unsubscribe."

Opting Out

Users can stop receiving SMS messages at any time by:

  • Replying STOP to any MoodMirror SMS message.
  • Disabling SMS reminders in their account settings.
  • Removing their phone number from their account.
  • Deleting their account.

After replying STOP, you will receive a final confirmation message and no further messages will be sent unless you re-enroll.

MoodMirror does not charge for SMS messages, but standard message and data rates from your carrier may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
